In a genre defined by who is dubbed “the most real,” the Social Club Misfits are in an entire league of their own. Fern and Marty are living breathing examples of what it means to be authentic, passionate, and Christ-like in every aspect of how they are perceived.
Over the past 10 to 15 years, artists of different styles and messages have risen up and stamped their influence on Christian Hip-Hop. There are a bunch of artists that deserve recognition for their work and talents, but these diverse 15 are a sample of those that went above and beyond to become notable influences. Christian hip-hop artist Illtalian held it down for the culture as he took home the award for Best Hip-Hop Album at The 41st Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards. The awards show is the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammy Awards. It took place in Honolulu on Saturday night, May 19. Shem Rivera teamed up with Xay Hill to drop “Water.” “‘Water’ was made to exemplify our faith in a way that the new and older generations can recognize,” said Rivera. “I got together with Xay Hill to create a sound that not only relates to many individuals but catches someone’s attention.” Jonathan Darvis produced the track.
